When was it?

Early Music  comes before Classical!

It's generally considered to be before Bach, back to the beginning of time -did you know music was already being written down in the 11th century? However, realistically we know about it only if it was written down, so there is much more available from the 15th and 16th centuries than from earlier. In historical terms, it covers music before the end of Stuarts, before the House of Hanover, so the Norman Conquest,  Chaucer, Shakespeare, the Wars of the Roses, and Henry VIIII all fall within the period of Early Music.
