Where to find people to play with
If you're in the north-east, the obvious place to start is neemf - the North East Early Music Forum - who run workshops throughout the year for a variety of instruments and voices. Although some of the players are very good, most are amateurs, and relative beginners are welcomed. It helps if you can keep a part going come what may- if you find this difficult, choose workshops which will have several people to a part.
Other Early Music Forums cover other parts of the country. Here is a map of the areas they cover and links to their webpages
Much recorder music falls into the early period, so the meetings of the Society of Recorder Players often include early music.
